Instead of a Tripod, I am using a Tri-Pier, because with a tripod, which has higher pods than a tri-pier, I have almost destroyed my setup, as the scope was stuck on one of the high pods during a nearly zenith shooting session It can't happen with a Tri-Pier as the pods are not in the way, since they are much lower.
This Tri-Pier from William Optics is a great accessory for those looking for the stability of the pier, but the leveling flexibility of a tripod. The Mortar tri-pier is 100% CNC machined from high quality 6061T aluminium and stainless steel. The design makes this WO Tri-Pier compatible with iOptron, Sky-Watcher, Crux, Takahashi, and Vixen mounts. This William Optics tri-pier comes with a 3/8-thread adapter and a carry bag.

This is the best component of my setup. I went for the extra mile when I bought it and I never regret it. I am very glad with this piece of equipment, as it never betrayed me. Imagine, all the pictures you see in the Gallery have been taken from the city center of Amsterdam, without ever being able to align my mount to the Pole Star, as I can't see North from my balcony. And the CEM40 doesn't care. Very appoximate guessed alignment, plate solving, ready to go! And it works!
